1st U.S. Government Sponsored
Regional LGBT Workshop
The 1st U.S. Government sponsored Regional LGBT Workshop will be held in Tirana, Albania from 14 June - 15 June, 2012.
While Southeast Europe continues to evolve regarding LGBT rights and issues, activists in the region still face many challenges in terms of tolerance, homophobia, and violence. This two-day long event will bring together LGBT organizations to discuss ideas and share best practices, to meet organizations from across the region to facilitate future collaborative efforts, and to build the skills for effective advocacy work. Participation in this workshop will enable U.S. officers and NGO representatives to improve how they engage host-country governments and societies to develop tolerance and encourage greater understanding. |
President Obama gives a message to kick off June as LGBT Pride Month.
